i sound my barbaric YAWP over the roofs of the world -walt whitman

i first heard this watching dead poet's society and have since became a forever fan of whitman...and ethan hawke-lol. i can still remember how i felt when robin williams bellowed these words to his students in that way that really only robin williams can. i couldn't decide whether i was the shy one struggling to yell my "yawp" or if i would have been the confident one and just gotten up on my desk and "yawped!" still a bit of a struggle there. the yawp is such a simplistic statement that carried more meaning to me than most-almost as much as carpe diem. it has since been a dream to climb to the highest point i can find and yell this. i don't know if i forgot that along the way or never had the courage to actually do it-it just seems so liberating. if someone tells you to yell as loud as you can, do you think you actually could/would? would it matter who was listening?
